Bankstown Senior College Well-being Program 2023

In December 2022 we wrapped up delivering our annual well-being program for Year 10 students at Bankstown Senior College. It was our best yet!

The program is built on the Collective Leisure wheel of well-being with content and experiential learning in the areas of purpose, financial, spiritual, physical, growth, relationships, nourishment, emotions, and environment. All grounded in habits. With each delivery, we review, learn, iterate and elevate.

Well-being is a constantly expanding and evolving subject so for us, we’re always integrating new learnings and techniques.

This year we had the pleasure of being supported by our Sports Development Officer Merna Yalda, one of our Sports Coaches Sama Zarra and Financial Counsellor Beth Schwalbe.

The delivery of the program is flexible and designed around the client. For the college it works well over a 3-week period, delivering a session per week to each group of around 25 students. Each session runs for ¾ of a day.

We’re proud of the partnership we have with the college. This is the third year we’ve been invited back to deliver the program and we’re already booked in for next year! Every time we visit it’s such a pleasure to be remembered by previous attendees who come up and say hello and have a chat. They love sharing with us what they took away from the program and what they have changed in their lives as a result.

The students are new arrivals, refugees, re-entry students, and those who have found it difficult to engage with education in a traditional setting.

Special thanks to Maria Pascalis (EAL/D Teacher and Refugee Contact Officer) for her continued support and for always making sure we’re fed and watered!
