Mental Health Programs.

We design and deliver accessible, inclusive and safe physical activity programs to support people in their mental health recovery.

Minds Collective Football program is a community-based initiative developed to support people living with mental illness through physical activity, social connection, and inclusive sport.

Physical activity is a powerful yet underused tool in mental health recovery. Research shows that regular movement supports not only physical health but also reduces symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress, while improving mood, sleep, and overall functioning.

Minds Collective Football

  • The program promotes mental well-being through football/soccer for people aged 18-55. Sessions focus on physical activity, confidence-building, and reducing social isolation. The program partners with local health districts, public and non-government organisations to deliver a non-clinical program to support people in their mental health recovery.

Sessions are followed by refreshments to facilitate social interaction.

Minds Collective Football is a partnership between Collective Leisure, UTS, City of Sydney and Thread Together. Thread Together provides free football boots for program participants.

Our non-competitive tennis program supports mental health by combining physical activity with social connection to reduce stress, improve mood, and build confidence. Structured games, including mini-games and matches, encourage teamwork, boosting resilience and well-being.

Smash Tennis

  • The Smash Tennis program in Randwick was a 12-week pilot designed to support mental health through tennis and social connection. Run by Collective Leisure and Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG), and funded by the ATP Cup Legacy Fund, it partnered with Tennis NSW and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Randwick City Council. The sessions at Heffron Park Tennis Centre included coaching and well-being activities to reduce social isolation, boost confidence, and provide community support followed by refreshments to foster social interaction.
